The conspiracy to target Dilshuknagar was revealed by terror suspects
who were arrested by Delhi police in October of 2012. Dilshuknagar was one among five to
six places which were identified by the terror suspects for planting the bombs and a
recce was done for the same. Indian Mujahideen’s key operative Riyan Bhatkal is now
emerging as main conspirator for Dilshuknagar blasts. The accused Syed Maqbool alias
Zuber a resident of Dharmabad in Nanded revealed to Delhi Police and as well as a team of
Counter Intelligence that grilled him that they conducted reconnaissance of Dilshuknagar
and Abids in Hyderabad. In 2012, Maqbool helped one Imran in doing a recce of Dilkhush
Nagar, Begum Bazar and Abids on motor cycle on the instructions of Riyaz Bhatkal.
Police found that for each operation four separate cells operate. A top source of home
department said,”recce will be conducted by one group. The other group plans it. Bomb
making is done by another group. For execution there will be a separate group. Maqbool
was part of recce group,”.
The suspected then planned fidayeen attacks on Buddhist shrines in Bodh Gaya in Bihar.
Maqbool was arrested on October 23 in 2012. AP police teams went to Delhi in November
2012 and grilled him. The other accused named are Imran, Irfan and Asad. It is all part
of Pune module. NIA experts say the modes operandi looks like that 2011 Mumbai blasts.
“Indian Mujahideen is like off shoot of Lashkar E Taiba. IM is nothing but Indian branch
of LET,” said a police official.
Police records say that Maqbool had close links with Azam Ghori of Warangal who was
killed in encounter in 2000. Both are accused in the a murder of Krishna murthy in 1999
and were convicted for life. In 2009 he was released from jail on commutation of
sentence. He was also earlier involved in the murder of Devender who allegedly
encroached land in Uppal. He was named in the murder of jeweller Mahaveer Prasad in 2000.
Police said ,”Maqbool was instrumental in the formation of IMMM (Indian Muslim Mohammadin
Mujahidin) at village Manchiryal in 1999 along with Azam Ghori and Roshan Baig. They
worked in the guise of social reforms to stop dowry system in society, to fight against
corruption and to stop pornographic films. It was Ghori who taught Maqbool to prepare
LEDs as that they can cause blasts in theaters where porn films are screened. The accused
were named in bomb blast in Kakatiya Hotel, Lal Darwaza, Blast Sharada theatre and Lamba
theater.
Meanwhile police are also verifying whether Obaidur Rehman and others of Lashkar E Toiba
module of Karnataka may also be behind the terror act. “The module has planned attacks on
politicians and journalists in Hyderabad,’ said an official.
