It's Africans after Arabs now involved in Sham marriages in old city.
A 45 year old Sudan national was arrested by Moghalpura police on Thursday evening for
marrying a minor girl under contract marriage without her consent and tried to molest
her. The 17 year old girl resisted to live with him and she was forcible taken to a
‘vasikaran baba’.
The arrested Sudanese was identified as Osama Ibrahim 45 son of Ibrahim Mohammed a
resident of Khartoum the capital city of Sudan. He is working as structural engineer with
Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company. The accused paid Rs one lakh including Rs
30,000 to the mediators and Rs 70,000 the parents of the girl for the contract marriage.
Moghalpura inspector of Police Mr. P Vijay Kumar said ,”One Mr Ahmed Yahiya another
engineer working with his company who did similar contract marriage in the city informed
his friend Ibrahim who came to city on February 19 on tourist visa. Yahiya introduced him
to one Mumtaz the maternal aunt of the victim girl. She acted as mediator. On February 21
marriage was performed. However due to Dilshuknagar blasts police were checking on the
roads so he went out of the home as she refused to live with him,”
The victim girl said ,”I was not aware of it. They just force me and when I came to know
it is a marriage I refused and lodged complaint,”
The marriage will last for 40 days. “After that he promised to pay another Rs 1 lakh as
meher. We have booked a case under 366(kidnapping a girl to compel her to marry)
354(outraging the modesty of the women) read with 34 IPC(common intention) and section 3
and 9 of Prohibition of Child marriage act. The girl studied only up to eight class. Her
mother is a housewife and her father is petty worker,” said inspector of police Vijay
Kumar.
He added case is also booked against a khaji who performed the marriage. “On February 23
they took the girl to vasikaran baba but the girl refused to go with him. Later they
tried to obtained fake age certificate from GHMC by manipulating the records but couldn’t
succeed. They wanted to perform a regular nikhanama. They went to GHMC on February 25.
The accused was staying in Hotel Crystal Banjara in road number 1 in Banjara hills,”
Police said the mediator Mumtaz is made accused number 2 and another mediator Mr Mohammed
Hasan Bawajir is made accused number 3. ‘parents of the girl Ayesha Begum and Mohammed
Yousuf are made accused 4 and 5. The khaji Mohammed naseeruddi jehangir is made the
accused number 6,”
Police said in 2012 a similar case where a Sudanese national was arrested for raping a
woman along with his friend after the marriage was booked. The accused was shifted to
Chanchalaguda jail.
