Indian Mujahideen the home grown terrorist group involved in several bomb blasts across
the country including the recent Dilshuknagar twin blasts had attracted several educated
youth by highlighting the atrocities against the community including 2002 communal riots
in Gujarat. The confidential report of Octopus an anti terror agency of AP police
revealed that though the foot soldiers, handlers and founders of Indian Mujahideen are
all from the country it is the plan of Pakistan’s Lashkar E Taiba to prevent leading of
terror trial to Pakistan. The handlers the Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal are said to be hiding
in Karachi in Pakistan now.

busy forming logistic support based in his native Bhatkal areas and readying another
group for similar activities in South India. The other group that was readied at Pune,
later on carried twin blasts in Hyderabad in 2007 and attempted serial blasts at Surat in
2008. While the serial blasts were being executed IM developed a small IT savvy tam which
could spread the ideology. Riyaz Bhatkal tapped educated people with skills in software
and good English. Over a period IM expertise the making of IEDs using locally available
materials.
IM operative Mohammed Akbar Ismail Choudary alias Sayeed 29 a mobile repairer and
resident of Kondwa in Pune who was chargesheeted by AP police in Gokul Chat and Lumbini
Park blast in his Interrogation Report revealed that he was initially asked to attend
religious discourses, then Arabic lessons.“Riyan Bhatkal slowly started taking about
Jihad. Then they took us to Chikamngalur near Bengaluru and in a farm house were taught
about explosives. Later we came to know about blasts in Mecca Masjid and it is the
handiwork of other community. Many innocent Muslims are killed in the firing and we
should take revenge of this. Riyaz also told about one Mujahed saleem of Hyderabad who is
his friend and he was killed in Gujarat police firing in front of DGPs office,” the
accused Akbar revealed to police.
Another arrested terror suspect Mr. Farooq Sharfuddin Tarkash ”we discussed about the
arrest of Moulana Naseeruddin by Gujarat police from Hyderabad and harassment of Muslims
in Hyderabad and Guajrat riots. Bhatkal brothers said they wanted to do justice and
sought my support. They also told us about atrocities against Muslims in Iraq Palestine and other parts of the world. I later attended a religious programme. I used give Rs 1000
every mot Mohammed Bhai (Iqbal Bhatkal) ten per cent of my salary for the activities,”

Cheetah camp and I told him I wanted to do something. I used to be in touch with Asif
Reza Khan in 2001. I also met Aftab Ansari. Later I crossed the borders and went to
Karachi and I got trained in LeT camp in Baitul Mujahideen. In 2002 I returned to India.

his confession to police ”I did my computers BE in VIT college in Pune. I started
attending Arabic classes in 2004. Later in 2007 January Riyaz Bhatkal met me and said
that there is need of software engineers in his activities. In March 2007 he took me to a
fort in Simhagad near Pune where some persons were practising with lathis and swrods. He
said they are all Bajarangdal activists. He said we should be similarly trained and had
to be active to tackle them. Later Riyaz funded for my computer course in 2007 in
Hyderabad. While I was attending the course there was blast in May 18 in 2007 in Mecca
Masjid blast. I went to the spot but they didn’t allow us inside. Locals told that
several Muslims were dead and several of them were injured. I went to hospital todonate
blood they didn’t allow me. I took it very emotional, Later I hacked wi fi network to
send IM blast claim mails to media organisations,”
