Maoists are losing hold drastically in red corridor across the country including the State where they could hold only a fewer armed training camps and jan adalats.
Ministry of Home Affair’s latest report revealed that incidents the left wing extremist
targeting the economic establishments like public sector have also come down. In AP
Maoists failed to conduct not even one armed training camp for the past two years. The
situation is so worse for Maoists that they could conduct only one Jan Adalat in the
State.
According to MHA report in the country left wing extremists held 51 armed training camps
in 2012 as against 84 in previous year mostly in Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. In economic
targets naxals hit mostly at telephone exchanges, towers, forest, road culverts and
railway properties.
Maoists could hold only 62 Jan adalats ( people’s court) in 2012 out of 97 they held in corresponding period of 2011. Apart from Chattisgarh and Jharkhand the two others states
were they have significant presense are Odisha and Bihar.
A senior IPS official said ,”In AP, West Bengal, Maharasthra and Uttar Pradesh their
presence is felt minimal except in borders”
Former Director General of Sashatra Seema Bal (central paramilitary force) Mr M V Krishna
Rao says ,”Maoist political ideology will not die so easily. The situation of Maoist
activity we are now witnessing in the State of Andhra Pradesh is related to tactics.
Fifteen years ago Maoism was so virulent in AP where police stations are attacked and now
it has changed. The same military tactics used by Maoists are adopted by the police
forces to counter them. Naxals couldn’t withstand before the armed power of the State.
However the political ideology can’t be wiped out. It has been existing from hundreds of
years,”
Chattisgargh topped with 24 armed training camps followed by Jharkand 12. Last year
witnessed 24 attacks on telephone exchanges and towers mostly in Bihar(10) and only two
in AP. The economic targets like NMDC were attacked in Chattisgargh by naxals. There are
three instances of attacking school buildings.
