US Consulate at Hyderabad in its alert message to American citizens said the terror attack threat in public places and against US government facilities in the city and other metros is ‘not credible’. The message from the consulate revealed “in consultation with all relevant parties, the Embassy has determined the threat is not credible,”

City police have been involved in frisking and anti sabotage operations for the past one week. Security was stepped up at US Consulate in Begumpet after an ‘alert’ from intelligence agencies that terrorists may infiltrate through sea route and resort to attacks on July 21. Task Force sleuths carried out frisking of motorists and passers-by near consulate on Saturday too.
US Consulate authorities in the latest message to American citizens living in the city revealed that following the reports on possible threats to American facilities in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai as well as to major public places in the cities, suggesting attacks might occur on Sunday, July 21, 2013, it was verified with the agencies concerned.
Authorities said as the threat is not credible there have been no changes to standard security procedures at any of our facilities or for any U.S. government employees as a result of these reports.
“The current Worldwide Caution advises U.S. citizens to exercise vigilance whenever they travel overseas.  Please take this opportunity to read the document and assess your personal security while traveling to or residing in India,” said the message.
