Maoist Usendi claims no role in military operations

U Sudhakar Reddy
While National Investigation Agency is seeking access to Maoist Gudsa
Usendi  to unravel his role in massacres it has been investigating the surrendered Maoist
leader claimed that he has no role in military operations and he is only on ideological
work in the party.

Sources in State police questioning Gudsa Usendi said that he had clarified that he never
took part in military operations and mass killings. “He claimed that he is only involved
in press and writing work mostly and also writing the down the policies,” said a senior
police official.
State police has allowed NIA and other national agencies to talk to Usendi. However State
police clearly informed these agencies not to execute any warrants against him as the
surrender policy gives him ‘freedom’ from all cases.
“No warrants will be executed against him. Whenever a Maoist is surrendered it is the
policy to ensure that he is not arrested. This is to encourage surrenders. Instead reward
amount on their head will be given to him,” said a state police official.
However State police are  worried over the over enthusiasm of central agencies as it
would hamper the surrender police and more naxals will not come out to surrender if they
are arrested again on warrant.
NIA will be questioning Usendi regarding several massacres that took place in
Chattisgarh. Even State police units of several naxal infested states are interested to
question him.

Women Maoist is Usendi's living partner

Maoist Gudsa Usendi's surrender that shook the CPI Maoist party took
a new turn on Monday with cops and media receiving message from CPI Maoists that the
woman who surrendered along with him is not his wife.
Dreaded Maoist and Dandkaranya Special Zonal Committee secretary Ramanna in an audio
message claimed that Usendi has actually fled the party with another woman cadre.
“Usendi’s wife Raji is still with the party but he has fled with another woman cadre and
claiming her as his wife,” Ramanna alleged. Usendi has earlier claimed that he took the
permission of the party.
A senior police official said ,”The woman who surrendered is Jaini alias Marakam Santoshi
and Usendi told us that he has been living with her for the past one year. Though they
are not traditionally married they are living together. Usendi told us due to differences
he was separated from Raji his wife,”
“We have analysed the audio message of Ramanna. It says that people will come and go out
of party but the party continues to grow. They also raised the woman issue. CPI Maoist
party didn’t react on any surrender in recent times. They have reacted on Usendi’s
surrender this itself shows that it is a big shock to them and they are worried. His
surrender is definitely a loss to the party,”
Usendi is believed to be privy to vital information about the Maoist party in
Chhattisgarh and other parts of the country. Usendi, 53, is from Kadavendi village in
Devaruppala mandal in Warangal district. There was a price of Rs 20 lakh on his head.
DGP Prasada Rao announced that he surrendered due to rift between the leadership and also
due to ill health. Police said Jaini the woman Usendi claimed as his wife is suffering

serious illness and is undergoing treatment.
