Prime lands in Andhra Pradesh for rich schools : The school was meant for children of NRIs, expatriates, affluent Indian families and foreign diplomats

Fifteen acres of prime land worth about Rs 75 crore, owned by AP endowments department, has been identified for allocation for an international school in the public private partnership mode near Adavivaram in Visakhapatnam.

Another 15 acres worth around Rs 10 crore, belonging to the revenue department near National Highway in Bodduvaripalem in Nellore, is also being put at the disposal of private developers.

The state government, in its project report for international schools at Nellore and Visakhapatnam, revealed that the school was meant for children of NRIs, expatriates, affluent Indian families and foreign diplomats. Infrastructure Corporation of AP has called for bids from developers for the schools at Vizag and Nellore to be run with IB and Cambridge IGCSE curricula on the lines of the Adani School.

According to a senior official at Incap, the government had planned to develop international school in each Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Tirupati, Guntur, Anantapur and Puttaparthi in PPP model in order to create social infrastructure for foreign investors. Seven agencies have expressed interest to develop the international schools, he said.

The 15-acre land at at Adavivaram in Visakhapatnam belongs to the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Devasthanam of Simhachalam. Since the land belongs to endowments department, promotion of religious activities other than Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddishm is prohibited on the project site. The devasthanam will be getting the revenue share, said an Incap official.

The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 93.4 crore with a total of 2.72 lakh square feet. The site has 22 acres and seven acres of land can’t be utilised due to high-tension power line. The proposed site is 13 km from MVP Colony of Vizag. The endowments department will be a concessioning authority.

It is estimated that total project cost of Nellore school would be `62 crore. The Nellore site has connectivity with the town and can be reached through NH5. The government will be providing an approach road to the school, which is near the AP Tribal Welfare Gurkul school and girls junior college and 5 km from the proposed airport at Dagadarthi.

The school will accommodate 1,000 students with 40 air conditioned class rooms and will have residential facility for both boys and girls and a built up area of 1.84 lakh square feet.
