Chinese vegetables flood Indian super markets. Dwarf potatoes sold in Hyderabad bazars

After Chinese goods, kites, holi colors its now Chinese vegetables 
that are flooding Hyderabad super markets.  Exotic Chinese cabbage is sold at the rate of 
Rs 70 per kg. Chinese dwarf potatoes and tomatoes and other vegetables are imported and 
now widely available.
Indian cabbage is only Rs 22 per kg the prices of exotic varieties and even Chinese are 
sold at higher prices.
Mr Rajesh a manager of a super market at AS Rao Nagar says ,”Exotic Chinese cabbages and 
other vegetables are imported and now available in many super markets. Customers are also 
specifically asking for these Chinese cabbages. There are other exotic vegetables like 
capsicum, broccoli from other countries also sold here,”
However there are mixed reactions among the buyers of the Chinese vegetables.
Ms Lata Damodar a resident of Sainikpuri says ,”Actually I tasted them but for me Indian 
cabbage varieties are better and costs less. After hybrid varieties replaced the desi 
types of tomatoes the taste is gone. Now with Chinese we have to watch out cautiously how 
things change,”
Some of them say they are fond of these Chinese veggies. Ms. K.Shipika, hotelier said, 
These Chinese vegetables gives an authentic flavor  to the dishes, it stands important to 
cook Chinese dishes with their   vegetable only on order to give  it an original taste. 
We mostly use Chinese Bamboos for hot and sour soup, mushrooms and Chinese spring onions. 
Certain section  of costumers demand for  these vegetables only,”
With China vegetables flooding the markets officials of horticulture department say, 
"especially cabbage and potatoes are heavily competing with our local produce. other 
commodities were entering the market are  broccoli and cauliflower,”An official of  Godrej Nature’s Basket "says

'Our range of chinese vegetables are becoming increasingly popular at  the stores. While it is fairly a new and lesser known product, we have   seen a growing interest for this range. One of our most popular type
of chinese vegetables is the chinese cabbage which is extremely  popular amongst the oriental and other multicuisine restaurants'.
