Dilshuknagar blasts: Commissioner of Police Anurag Sharma admits terror alerts and Maqbool report but denies taking them lightlyma admits

Commissioner of Police Mr Anurag Sharma denied taking terror alerts 
lightly while admitting that city police received three general alerts from centre and 
also the specific interrogation reports of Syed Maqbool by AP Counter Intelligence and 
Delhi police that terrorists planned to strike at various crowded areas in the city.
“In the month of November 2012 a team of Intelligence sleuths went to Delhi and 
interrogated members of Indian Mujahideen who were arrested by Delhi police. In Terror 
suspects conducted recce at Dilshuknagar, Abids, Tank Bund, Begumbazar, Laldarwaja and 
Ranigunj and it was revealed during interrogation.  In this particular module majority of 
them were arrested. We did not take warning lightly. From November to till date we have 
been conducting regular anti sabotage, vehicle checking at these places,”
Anurag Sharma said ,”On February 15 we got a circular from centre that attacks may take 
place in four cities including that Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.  Now again 
this was promptly communicated down the line and we took our precautionary measures to 
ensure that things don’t go wrong.  Two alerts later on February 19 and 20th reiterated 
the same. In November we were at maximum alert because the incidents that were happening 
in the old city. Our entire police force was deployed,”
He added ,”For the past four months were doing work. At Dilshuknagar alone we have 
conducted anti sabotage checks 17 times in November 2012, 17 times in December, 18 times 
January 2013 and 13 times in Feburary. Similarly checks were carried out at Abids, Tank 
Bund, Begumbazar, Laldarwaja and Ranigunj. A total 487 anti sabotage checks were carried 
at these places,”
Anurag said in the city in November 2012 around 1416 vehicle checkings were done and it 
continued almost at the same number and in February 1245 vehicles checking are done. He 
also added eight mock drills were conducted along with Octopus in the city. Around 16 
bomb squads have checked around 1555 anti sabotage checks in the city. “Around nine hoax 
calls we attended in the past four months. We have agencies in the state which basically 
monitor the terrorist activities  they have specially created that is our counter 
intelligence and octopus. We have been regularly in touch with the both the agencies to 
avoid any such acts,”
Anurag added “ I know that no amount of explanation will be adequate to console the 
families of the deceased. But definitely we have been doing our best and that in all 
humiliation I submit that we tried our best. Security forces have to succeed every time 
and terrorist have to succeed only once. Definitely we will crack this case and get the 
culprits,”
