Hyderabad Ranks fifth among Foreign Contribution recipient districts in India, Bengaluru tops in Country: Ministry of Home Affairs

* Bengaluru is the top recipient district with Rs 774 crore following by Chennai Rs 772 crore and then by Mumbai Rs 643 crore
three districts Hyderabad, Anantapur and Krishna among top 15 recipients in the country.

Ministry of Home Affairs Foreign Contribution Regulation Act wing has 
ranked Hyderabad as fifth top district receiving foreign donations among the districts in the country. City received Rs 325 crore in a year as per the latest details revealed by MHA.Experts are cautioning that the money though received in large sums is not visible in the works on the ground. Most of the money was received and claimed to have been utilised for establishment expenses, rural development, welfare of children and construction of schools.State having second highest number of NGOs in the country after Tamilnadu has received 1176 crore out of 10334 crore in the country in 2011. Around 2265 associations exist here in the State and three districts Hyderabad, Anantapur and Krishna among top 15 recipients in the country. Bengaluru is the top recipient district with Rs 774 crore following by Chennai Rs 772 crore and then by Mumbai Rs 643 crore, Kolkata, Pathanamthitta of Kerala. In States Delhi received highest followed by Tamilnadu and Andha Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharasthra.Forum for Good Governance secretary and former IFS official Mr. M Padmanabha Reddy said “AP is getting large quantity of money but their utilisation is not much visible. This needs some examination. Money coming from foreign countries has to be utilised properly and transparency has to be ensured to prevent misuse. Many times it is used for other purposes than what is intended. The donors are routinely reviewing things and there is no control of the state machinery especially the law enforcement agencies. We suspect that the money might have been also used for suspicious activities. The government should have a strict control over the organisations receiving large sums of money,”United States (Rs 3260 crore), United Kingdom and Germany are top funding countries. Intrestingly countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan are also donating to Indian NGOs. From Pakistan around 1.74 crore rupees were received by the Indian NGos.Compassion International of US, HCL Holdings of Mauritius, Action Aid of UK, Population Service International. Bill and Mellinda Gates Foundation of US are top donating agencies
